From "Fakebook Skeptic" to Author Coach

August 17, 20253 min read

When I First Started Writing…

When I felt the nudge to write, I thought it meant I was going to write blog posts and books.

That was it.

I had no idea what social media for authors looked like.
Content creation wasn’t in my vocabulary.
I didn’t listen to podcasts.
I had no desire to post daily—heck, I called Facebook “Fakebook.”

I wasn’t a marketer.
I didn’t know how to create an email list, a lead magnet, or a webinar.
I couldn’t design a website.

I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

The Hidden Side of the Author Journey

Like so many writers, I assumed that writing and publishing a book was a straightforward process. Instead, I found it was filled with ups and downs, learning curves, and curveballs.

Because I’m both ADHD and a constant learner, I dove into rabbit holes—webinars, courses, coaching, and every article I could find about author platforms and book marketing.

Full confession: it took hours.

And yet, I still couldn’t find one comprehensive guide for authors—something that would take me from start to finish. Everyone was so niche that I had to piece my knowledge together from different experts, YouTubers, and marketing gurus.

It was exhausting.

The Turning Point: Becoming an Author Coach

While I was wrapping up publication of my book, an email arrived about becoming a Hope*Writers Certified Coach. I knew instantly I had to do it.

Why? Because I wanted to serve authors who were struggling with the same challenges I faced—confusion, overwhelm, and lack of direction in building their author life.

I completed my certification, launched my author coaching business, and set out to stand in the gap for other writers.

Why The Visible Author Was Born

It didn’t take long to realize something important:
Most authors don’t have the time or bandwidth to spend hours searching the internet for the next solution.

They needed a one-stop shop for authors—a place to find:

  • Clarity for the next step in their writing journey

  • Guidance on book marketing strategies and social media for authors

  • Tools for publishing, platform building, and reader connection

But I couldn’t be that person alone.

Enter: God’s Timing

Then I met Kim Mosiman. From our first conversations, it was clear—we shared the same heart for writers and the same passion to equip them.

When we couldn’t do it individually, God brought us together.

And so, The Visible Author was born—a resource hub and writing community for authors at any stage of the journey.

What The Visible Author Offers

We don’t want to be just another author resource. Our goal is to give writers a roadmap for the entire author journey—from idea to publication to platform growth—without the overwhelm.

Here’s what’s happening right now:

  • Free Facebook Community – Connect with other writers, ask questions, and get practical tips.

  • September Writing Reset (Free) – Four weeks of prompts, accountability, and encouragement to get back into a writing habit.

  • October Foundations Course (Paid) – Build your rooted author identity and gain reader clarity.

  • Membership Launch in January – Ongoing training, support, and resources for writers who want to grow year-round.
