I grew up learning the parables and the interpretations my church wanted me to see. While I was always taught how Jesus taught in parables, I never thought about why Jesus chose this teaching method beyond the Sunday School answer of “Jesus wanted to relate to His audience and make it easier for them to understand.”
The best thing you can do when dealing with your ex is to seek God and his kingdom first (Matthew 6:33). When I’m practicing the pause, I’m typically praying that God will give me direction and the words to say. I find it’s much more difficult to be nasty to my ex after I’ve spent some time being still and listening to God in these situations.
We treat our bodies when they are broken, but it's time we start treating our mental, emotional, and spiritual brokenness as well.
How we walk with the broken speaks louder than how we sit with the great.
